Oman Drydock Company
January 2015. Fly out to Oman and help promote the 300th VIP drydocking ceremony of the new $1.8 billion shipyard working with ODC’s in-house marketing team.
Polaris was tasked with raising awareness of Oman Drydock’s landmark in the international English written maritime press. Polaris was asked to build on its experience of visiting Oman Drydock a year earlier to promote the 200th drydocking ceremony in February 2014.
The 300th drydocking involved a multi-million dollar contract to convert the Greek owned Oil Bulk Ore carrier, the Olympic Luck, to a VLCC. The ship is owned by Springfield Shipping and the Onassis Foundation.
Polaris helped draft a press release to promote the event in professional English see: press release. We attended the ceremony in the port of Duqm, flying from Muscat, interviewing key speakers from Oman and Greece. We issued the press release to all relevant maritime, Oman and Gulf press. The brief was to hit maritime and offshore media, but also media in Oman and the Middle East.
Using our media database we sent the news to all relevant English language websites, newspapers and magazines.
We generated more than 40 articles, worth in excess of £40,000 reaching an estimated audience of more than 500,000 readers worldwide.
